Dr. Beuhler specializes in custom made hearing protection for hunters, musicians, concert goers or anyone else subject to long periods of sound reaching 85 decibels or higher. To give you a good idea what things give off that level of sound, refer to the decibel chart.
Wearing hearing protection while going to a rock concert might not look cool, but even exposure to an extreme loud concert for a period of three hours can be enough to cause lasting damage. Some bands even request that the PA system be able to reach 120 decibels at mix positions throughout the room!
While foam earplugs reduce all frequencies evenly, custom made hearing protection reduces 30 decibels in the low frequencies and 20 decibels in the high frequencies, resulting in a superior sound quality that is much more natural.
Headphone adapters are becoming increasingly popular. Ear bud headphones that are offered with portable devices tend to fall out of the ears while one is exercising, and they don’t do a good job at blocking out background noise. These in-the-ear custom adapters fill your ear completely and reduce the background noise level while comfortably anchoring the earphones. With these adapters, you can turn the music down and protect your hearing from damaging levels!
